What are the effects of pet overpopulation?

It has been shown that one female dog or cat and her descendants can produce as many as 67,000 offspring in six years! In seven years that number jumps to as many as 420,000 offspring! Unfortunately many of these animals will die unwanted, abandoned, or just simply because they cannot survive the harsh life on the street.
