Administration

The Administration of the Henry County Sheriff's Office follows a chain of command structure similar to that found in the military.

Responsibilities

The Sheriff is the person in overall command of the staff and volunteers and appoints a Captain to assist him and to be in command in his absence. The next command levels are "Promotional", which means that any qualified Deputy Sheriff can be considered for promotion upon taking and passing an exam. The promotional positions are Lieutenant and Sergeant. In addition, the Corrections and Communications Divisions are led by individual Supervisors, who are appointed. The Sheriff also appoints an Office Manager who coordinates the daily business of the Sheriff's Office and the clerical staff.

Command decisions fall to the highest-ranking staff member who is on duty at the time. Certain decisions may need consultation or referral to a higher command level depending on the nature of the information.
