Registration Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must be at least 18 years of age by election day
  • Must have been a resident of the precinct for 30 days prior to election day
  • Must provide two forms of identification:
  • Verification of Name
  • Verification of Address

Note The Illinois Election Code defines a resident as someone who has a "permanent abode or dwelling within the precinct." (10 ILCS 5/3-1)

Registering to Vote

You can register to vote in-person or by mail, both methods are explained below:

In-Person

  • You may register to vote in-person, at the Henry County Clerk's Office. We are located in the Henry County Courthouse at 307 W Center Street, Cambridge, IL 61238. Office hours are from 8 am until 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday
  • Voter registration is available through your precinct committee person or by a deputy registrar. Please contact the Henry County Clerk's Office at 309-937-3575 to find out how to contact your precinct committee person or deputy registrar in your community
  • The following agencies are also qualified to register you to vote:
    • Driver's License Facilities
    • City Clerk's Offices
    • Libraries

Online

Residents can also register online through the State Board of Elections.

By Mail

  • You may fill out the change of address form on the back of your voter's registration card with your signature on it and send it in
  • You may fill out the mail in voter's registration forms which you can find in any Henry County post office
  • Access the Voter Registration Application (PDF)

Registration Period

Registration is open all year, except:

  • During the 27 days preceding an election
  • During the 2nd day following such election

This is pursuant to 10 ILCS 5/4-6.
