Responsibilities
The Henry County Highway Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all county highways, roads, and bridges.
Goals
- To provide a safe and efficient county highway system for residents and visitors using our county roads
- To complete construction and maintenance projects in the most time-efficient, cost-effective manner possible
- Strive to have the best county road system in the State of Illinois
Duties
The Henry County Highway Department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of all the bridges and roads in the Henry County Highway System. In addition to constructing and maintaining the 170 miles of roads and 595 drainage structures on the County Highway System, the department assists the 24 townships of Henry County in the construction and maintenance of their 1,046 miles of highways and 162 bridges.
The Henry County Highway Department is kept busy throughout the year maintaining the roadways. Yearly maintenance includes the following:
